The date of the founding is not clear.
In the compound are 六地蔵 six statues of Jizo Bosatsu.
In the compound was a small 稲荷社 Shrine for Inari.
The Inari Shrine was in the compound of 大熊氏 the Okuma family.

千葉県市原市能満582-1 / Chiba, Ichihara city, Noman

The main statue is a standing 不動明王 Fudo Myo-O.
It was made in 1331 by 弘鑁僧正 Priest Koban.
The Kannon Statue is 聖観世音 Sho Kannon Bosatsu.

The old temple was founded in 808 by 弘法大師空海 Kobo Daishi Kukai.
In 901 it became an Imperial Temple on request of 醍醐天皇Emperor Daigo.
. Chokuganji 勅願寺 Chokugan-Ji Imperial Temples .
In the Edo period it was an important temple with 36 sub-temples.
徳川家康 Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu visited this temple once.
The present headpriest is 文聖 Bunsei in the 63 generation.

The temple was founded in 1952 by 野口良太郎 Noguchi Ryotaro.
It burned down in the early Meiji period.
Noguchi built a new temple and named it 信成院 Shinjo-In.
The 不動堂 Fudo Hall in the compound of the Noguchi family in 1975.

The main statue is 薬師如来 Yakushi Nyorai. It is 81 cm high.
On his side are the two heavenly kings Dhrtarastra and Vaisravana.
All three statues have been designated National Important Cultural Properties.

おん ころころ せんだり まとうぎ そわか

The temple was founded by 行基菩薩 Gyoki Bosatsu (729 -749)
on the ground of 伊奈冨神社 the Shrine Ino Jinja.
Records state the temple was founded in the first half of the eighth century
by the great priest Gyoki on the grounds of 伊奈冨神社 Ino Shrine.
The temple enshrines three Buddhist statues created in the Heian period
depicting a standing Bhaisajyaguru and two of the heavenly kings - Dhrtarastra and Vaisravana, both also standing.
All three statues have been designated National Important Cultural Properties.
Around 830, Kobo Daishi visited the Shrine, and completed the 七堂伽藍 seven buildings in the compound.
Around 1520, on request of 後柏原天皇 Go-Kashiwabara Tenno, it became chokuganji 勅願寺 an Imperial Temple.
The main hall and the living quarters of the priest burned down in 1979
The temple is famous for the 稲生の獅子舞 Lion Dance of Ino.

When they were building the gate of 熱田神宮寺 the Temple Jinguji in Atsuta
after coming to a depth of about 1,2 m, something in the ground begun to wiggle.
When they dug a bit more, a bird of the size of a crow dame out and flew away.
Five days after that, the head priest of the Temple died.

. Sanbo Kojin 三宝荒神 "the fierce deities of the three treasures" .
In the compound of 神宮寺 the Temple Jingu-Ji in 梶並 Kajinami there is a formation of mountains.
At the foot of the mountains the deity 三宝荒神 Sanbo Kojin is venerated as a protector of children.

nanahaka, nana haka 七墓 seven graves / 河内七墓 Kawachi Nanahaka
A popular visit to seven graves in Osaka takes place in Higashi Osaka and Yao City.
It is in memory of 行基菩薩 Gyoki Bosatsu (729 -749) and takes place during O-Bon.
The graves are located in 長瀬有馬 Nagase Arima, 岩田, Iwada, 額田 Nikata, 神立 Kandatsu,
垣内 Kakiuchi, 恩智神宮寺 Onchi Jingu-Ji and 植松晒 Uematsu Sarashi.
People who do this pilgrimage will not become ill and go to 極楽 the Buddhist Paradise when they die.

Kannonin 観音院 Kannon-In, Yanagisaki

埼玉県川口市柳崎4-11-30 / Saitama, Kawaguchi city, Yanagisaki

The temple was built in 1366.
Acording to old records, in 1571 when the war lord 織田信長 Oda Nobunaga
burned 比叡山延暦寺 the temple Enryaku-Ji at Mount Hieizan,
the head priest 恵海 Emi carried the statue of 子安観音 Koyasu Kannon on his back and fled.
The statue of Kannon is now in a miniature shrine.
In front of it stands a small statue of 不動尊 Fudo Myo-O.
In former times there was also 不動堂 a Hall for Fudo Myo-O.
The main hall was rebuilt in concrete in 1976.

The temple also has a statue of 十一面観世音菩薩 Juichimen Kannon
which is made of the same wood as 笠森観音 the Kasamori Kannon.

The main statue is 薬師如来 Yakushi Nyorai, carved by Kobo Daishi.
The statue is shown once every 30 years.

おん ころころ せんだり まとうぎ そわか

The temple was founded by 行基菩薩 Gyoki Bosatsu.
The temple was lost to fire during the fighting of 織田信長 Oda Nobunaga,
but the main statue was kept safe.
Priest 土宣法龍 Togi Horyu (1854 - 1923) came from Mount Koyasan at age 6
and stayed as the head priest.
The present main hall was built around 1888.

About 60 years ago. there lived an old fox couple in the deep trench between
大音寺 the Temple Daion-Ji and 大光寺 the Temple Daiko-Ji in 今籠町 Imakago town.
The foxes were quite beneficial and protected the temple surroundings at night,
using wooden clappers as was the custom in the Edo period.
Sometimes it sounded like hitting the roof tiles.
Sometimes it sounded like hitting bamboo pipes.

Once upon a time, 日蓮 Saint Nichiren came to 大光寺 the Temple Daiko-Ji in Iwatsuki city.
There he used a toothpick and then stuck it into the ground.
A yanagi 柳 willow tree begun to sprout and became a large tree at the shore of the pond.

The Kannon statue is 白衣観世音菩薩 Byakue Kannon Bosatsu with white robes.
It is also called 子安観音 Koyasu Kannon.

- Chant of the temple
おん しべいてい しべいてい はんだら ばしに そわか

The temple was founded in 751 by 道證上人 Saint Dosho.
It was built on request of 藤原不比等 Fujiwara Fuhito (659 - 720).
An ancient Shingon Buddhist temple founded some 1,300 years ago,
the temple's principal object of worship, a statue depicting a white robe-clad Kannon,
is said to grant women worshippers an easy childbirth.
The temple grounds are also the location of the 不断櫻 Fudanzakura,
a National Natural Monument-designated cherry tree
which continues to bloom and which never loses its leaves throughout the year.
