Tokuzooin 徳蔵院 Tokuzo-In, Shiratsuka

The main statue is Kannon Bosatsu, holding a baby in her arms.

The temple was founded in 724.
In 808 a hall was built by 弘法大師空海 Kobo Daishi Kukai.
In 901, it became an Imperial Temple on request of 醍醐天皇 Emperor Daigo
and received a large compound.

It became the main temple of the area and had 36 sub-Temples.
徳川家康 Tokugawa Ieyasu visited this temple too.
The main hall was built on request of 徳川家光 Tokugawa Iemitsu.
It became an important cultural property.

It is one of the regional seven temples for the Gods of Good Luck,
dedicated to 寿老人 Juro-Jin.

There are many seasonal flowers in the compound, for example the sakura 桜 cherry blossoms
and the botan 牡丹 peonies.
In Autumn, there are the koyo 紅葉 red leaves.

「花咲かば　堂塔埋れ　つくすべし」　　　　虚子
の句に表現されているとおり、山内の堂塔伽藍が花につつまれる眺めはまことに壮観です。
　牡丹は唐の皇紀馬頭婦人（めずぶにん）の献木を今に植えついで日本一といわれ、秋の紅葉また昔から名高く、紫陽花が色の変化をみせる等、これら四季の花木にかざられたこの山にご参拝の方々には

というご詠歌（ごえいか）の心をしみじみと感じて頂けることとぞんじます。
また本山は、すぐれた名勝地として多くの文学作品の舞台ともなっております。

■開基 　朱鳥元年（６８６）道明上人は、皇室のおん為に銅板法華説相図を西の岡に安置され、のち神亀四年（７２７）徳道上人は聖武天皇の勅を奉じて、民衆のために東の岡（現在の場所）に十一面観世音菩薩をおまつりになりました。
　徳道上人は観音信仰に徹したお方で西国三十三所巡拝の開祖となられた大徳であり、当山を三十三所の根本霊場と呼ぶいわれであります。

■本尊 　当山のご本尊は、御身の丈、三丈三尺六寸（十米余）、楠の霊木で顕造せられている金色に輝く十一面観世音菩薩です。
右手には錫杖と念珠、左手には蓮華のある水瓶をお持ちの独特のお姿で、平らな石の上に立っておられます。
　このように錫杖をもって地面にお立ちになっているのは、観音地蔵両菩薩のお徳をあらわすもので、御名を呼ぶ声に応じて、すぐ赴きお守りくださって希望をかなえさせ給うお誓いのお姿であります。
■本堂 　三代将軍徳川家光公慶安三年（１６５０）の建立で、奈良では東大寺大仏殿に次ぐ重要文化財大建造物です。

The main statue is Yakushi Nyorai 薬師如来.

In 1535, 足利義舜 Ashikaga Yoshishun（his childname was 龜王丸 Kameomaru）came to live here
and built the 宮原御所 Miyahara Imperial Palace.
In 1545, after Yoshishun passed away, the temple was built in his honour.
In the North of the Temple is a small shrine dedicated to the 御所明神 Gosho Myojin Deity..
Every year on the 29th of September a special ritual is held here.

the lord of the 門司城 Moji castle.
He was killed by 大友宗麟 Otomo Sorin and buried here.
If people give the moss of the grave to a horse or bull,
the animals will never be attacked by a Kappa.

The temple was founded in 1469.
It is related to Princess お江与 O-Go no Kata / 崇源院 Sogen-In
Oeyo (於江与), Gō (江), Ogō (小督) or Satoko (達子) (1573 – September 15, 1626)
She was the third and youngest daughter of the Sengoku-period daimyō Azai Nagamasa.
Her mother, Oichi was the younger sister of Oda Nobunaga.
Toyotomi Hideyoshi became the adoptive father and protector of Oeyo in the period before her marriage.

Shogakujin 正覚院 Shogaku-In, Yamada

The main statue is 薬師如来 Yakushi Nyorai.

The date of the founding is not clear,
but it is mentioned in records of the Muromachi Period (1336 - 1573).
The Main Hall war constructed in 1803.
In the middle of the Edo Period (1603 - 1868) during an epidemic
the original statue of 阿弥陀如来 Amida Nyorai was replaced by Yakushi, the Buddha of Healing.
In 1872, the temple was relocated to the 山田小学校 Yamada Primary School.
In 1970, the thatched roof was replaced by tiles to prevent fire.
In 2011 the main hall was rebuilt.

The temple was founded in 1594 by 円満上人 Saint Enman.
on request of 藤右衛門清胤 Fujiemon Kiyotane.

In front of the Temple 円満寺 Enman-Ji in Yushima there is a senbei rice cracker shop.
Every night a huge cat came there and ate many things.
So the owner caught the cat and killed it.
Then he asked his wife to get rid of it.
When the wife came back home, she scratched the skin of her husband's face
and started behaving like a cat.
The husband called some neighbours and finally they got rid of the wife / cat.
Now they heard the voice of the cat . . . miyaoooo, miyaoooo ...
When there was food on the table, the cat came, stuck her head in the bowl
and ate everything, especially the fish.

. Kannon Bosatsu Introduction .

This small statue of about 1 meter is secret and only shown once every 33 years.
It is made from one piese of a 針葉樹 cornifer.
It was made by 行基菩薩 Gyoki Bosatsu.
Gyoki came to the area on a long boat trip and when he landed in 上総国市原郡五井村洲崎, he fell asleep.
In his dream he saw a huge serpent swimming in the river, which was in fact the trunk of a large tree.
Gyoki took the trunk and used natabori 鉈彫り hatched carving to make the statue.

The temple was founded in the Heian Period by 慈恩 Priest Jion.

This happened in May of 1919.
The priest of 満蔵院 the Temple Manzo-In kept a pipe fox.
One of them followed the priest who was going to look after an ill person.
The fox possessed the patient.
An ascetic priest held a special ritual to get rid of the pipe fox.
