Rice from the fields around the temple was shipped to the Shrine 伊勢神宮 Ise Jingu,
the temple was therefore also called 御倉堂 Okurado, the Honorable Store Hause.

The main building was lost three times, but the many statues were always rescued.
In 1995, when the main hall was repaired, a lot of old wood was given from Ise Shrine.

The Kannon statue is 十一面観世音菩薩 Juichimen Kanzeon with 11 Heads.
It is 65 cm high.
It was made by 毘首羯磨 Bishu Katsuma - Viśvakarman.
- - - quote
Vishvakarma or Vishvakarman (Sanskrit: विश्वकर्मा, lit. 'all maker', IAST: Viśvakarmā)
is a craftsman deity and the divine architect of the devas in contemporary Hinduism.
In the early texts, the craftsman deity was known as Tvastar
and the word "Vishvakarma" was originally used as an epithet for any powerful deity.
However, in many later traditions, Vishvakarma became the name of the craftsman god.
Vishvakarma crafted all of the chariots of the devas
and weapons including the Vajra of the god Indra.
Vishvakarma was related to the sun god Surya through his daughter Samjna/Randal.
According to the legend, when Samjna left her house due to Surya's energy,
Vishvakarma reduced the energy and created various other weapons using it.
Vishvakarma also built various cities like Lanka, Dvaraka, and Indraprastha.
According to the epic Ramayana, the vanara (forest-man or monkey)
Nala was the son of Vishvakarma, created to aid the avatar Rama.

- Chant of the temple

The date of the founding is not clear.
It was probably built 400 years ago in the center of the town.
In 1608, 藤堂高虎 Todo Takatora became lord of Imabari.
In 1891, the temple and all its treasures were lost in a fire.
In 1892, it was rebuilt.

It is only shown once year on January 17.
It is kept in a small Shrine with a wooden statue of 不動明王 Fudo Myo-O on one side and
a a statue of 薬師如来 Yakushi Nyorai on the other.

The temple was founded in 778 and revived by (弁・辨) 辨空上人 Saint Benku in 1352.
It belongs to 天台宗 the Tendai sect.
When 太閤秀吉 General Toyotomi Hideyoshi went on his war with Korea, he stayed at this temple.
The temple was also used by 龍造寺氏 the Ryuzoji clan and 鍋島氏 the Nabeshima clan.
In the hall is a small stone statue of Jizo Bosatsu called かかえ 一願地蔵さん Kakae ichigan Jizo san,
