The main statue is 薬師如来 Yakushi Nyorai.

おん　ころころ　せんだり　まとうぎ　そわか

The temple was founded in the Heian period
on request of 後期白河天皇 Emperor Goshirakawa Tenno (1096 - 1129).
In the Kamakura period in 1283, it was revitalized by 興正菩薩 Priest Kosho Bosatsu.
At that time around 1283 there was an epidemic and Yakushi Nyorai might help the people.
A statue of 不動明王 Fudo Myo-O was also venerated.
弘法大師 Kobo Daishi once visited this temple.
An irrigation canal was built for six villages to keep the place clean.
The well was called 「寺井」"Well of the Temple" or 「六郷井」"Well for six villages".
The temple was related to 土師神社 Shrine Haji Jinja.

The main statue is 十一面観音像 Juichimen Kannon Bosatsu.

The date of the founding is not clear.
The temple became part of the 33 Kannon Pilgrimage in Adachi in 1705.
The temple was a sub-temple of 浦寺村 地蔵院 the Temple Jizo-In in Uradera village.
The Fudo statue still show signs of a fire.

千葉県君津市小市部１２７ / Chiba, Kimitsu city, Koichibu

The main statue is 大日如来 Dainichi Nyorai from the Momoyama period.
There is also a statue of 十一面観世音菩薩 Juichimen Kannon with 11 heads.
The temple was founded in 1395 by 教慶法親王 Prince Kyokei.
The present head priest is 竹井宗弘 Takei Munehiro in the 48th generation.
Takei is the child of 大塔宮護良親王 Daitonomiya Imperial Prince Moriyoshi.
At the founding time it was a sub-temple of 萬徳山入定寺 Mantokuzan Nyujo-Ji.
The temple 入定寺 Nyujo-Ji was abolished in later times.
In the Edo period, 黒田直純 Kuroda Naozumi became the lord of 留里藩主 the Ruri Domain
and the temple became his clan temple.
After the Meiji Restauration 留里城 the Ruri Castle was abolished.
The treasures of the temple were relocated.
In 1952 there was a landslide and the main hall and most other buildings were lost.
But the statue of Dainichi Nyorai was perserved.
In 1986, a new main hall was built for the statue.

In the Yakushido 薬師堂 Hall for Yakushi Nyorai there are also statues of
日光菩薩 Nikko Bosatsu, 月光菩薩 Gekko Bosatsu, 十二神将 the 12 Heavenly Generals and
yakuyoke Kobo Daishi 厄除け弘法大師 Kobo Daishi to ward off evil.
Other buildings in the compound
観音堂 a Hall for Kannon Bosatsu, 、寿老神御堂 a Hall for Jurojin,
地蔵堂 a Hall for Jizo Bosatsu and 仁王門 the Nio-Mon gate.

おん　ころころ　せんだり　まとうぎ　そわか

The temple was founded in 1559 by 法院紹盛上人 High Priest Saint Shomori.
He named the temple 神福寺 Shinpukuji and built seven halls.
It became the clan temple of the 織田信孝 Oda Nobutaka (1559 - 1583).
In the Edo period all was lost in a fire after a great earthquake.
In the early Meiji period the spellilng was changed to 慎福寺 Shinpukuji.
In the compound is also 金毘羅稲荷堂 a Hall for Konpira Inari.
In the compound is a special old tree, しだれ銀杏 weeping shidare-Gingko.
For the many yearly festivals and rituals, many people come to visit.

Near 眞福寺 the Temple Shinpuku-Ji in Iwazu village there lived 鬼 an Oni Demon.
But he was driven out by the villagers.
His carcass was placed in a bottle and burried but
because there was a curse they held a special ritual where they did not place urin into the bottle.
Thus the curse was over.

Once in a winter night, a young Samurai came from 荒町 Aramachi town down to 真福寺 the Temple Shinpuku-Ji.
In the alley of the house fo 只木惣助 Tadaki Sosuke he met a beautiful woman.
The woman said:
"I am a concubine and my lord wants to kill me tonight. Please help me!".
The Samurai promised to do so and went home near the river.
At night when he was in bed he heard a voice form the river:
"Please help me!"
And soon later the head of a woman flew past the home of his family.

The Kannon statue is 聖観世音菩薩 Sho Kannon Bosatsu.
The statue was carved by 弘法大師 Kobo Daishi.
At her sides are statues of 不動明王 Fudo Myo-O and 愛染明王 Aizen Myo-O.

The temple was founded around 730 by 行基菩薩 Gyoki Bosatsu
on request of 聖武天皇 (724～49) Emperor Shomu Tenno.
The Kannon statue was carved by 弘法大師 Kobo Daishi.
He used the technique of itto sanrai 一刀三礼 carving one stroke with the blade and praying three times.
The temple was revived on request of 花山法皇 Emperor Kazan Tenno (968 - 1008).
When the Emperor stayed in the area, the village was called
Tomari mura 泊村 "Village where (the Emperor) stayed over night" - Tomari.
During local wars the Kannon statue was placed into the well and survived.
The well water became known as 延命長寿 Water for long life and health".
In the compound is a statue of Kobo Daishi.
To the South of the main hall is Kannon Do 観音堂 a Hall for Kannon Bosatsu.
In the compound is also Hōkyōintō 宝篋印塔 a Hokyoin PagodaTower, build in 1743.

In 芝下町会会館 the Shibashimo Town Hall is a small statue of about 50 cm of Fudo Myo-O.
A special ritual for this statue is held in Spring and Autumn.

In the compound of the 芝下町会会館 Shibashimo Town Hall
is a stone statue of Fudo Myo-O from the year 1804,
indicating the place where the Fudo Hall was located.

There was also 阿弥陀堂 a Hall for Amida Nyorai.
