代々木山 Yoyogizan 雲照寺 Unsho-Ji
Named after priest 釈雲照 Shaku Unsho (1827 - 1909).
東京都渋谷区西原3-31-1 / Nishihara, Shibuya City, Tokyo
The temple was moved here in the Meiji period by the famous priest 釈雲照 Shaku Unsho (1827 - 1909).
Unsho came to 松江千手院 a Kannon temple in Matsue in 1836.
In 1844 he went to 高野山 Mount Koyasan to study 真言密教 Shingon Mikkyo Buddhism.
Later he lived at the temple 新長谷寺 Shin-Hasedera in Mejiro.
He died in 1909 of influenza.

The temple was first located in Mejiro, called 蔵王寺 Zao-Ji.
Unsho founded his school for priests 目白僧園 Mejiro Zoen.
In 1921 Zao-Ji it was moved to this location and named after its founder Unsho.
目白僧園 Mejiro Zoen was later moved to 練馬区 Nerima ward and called 十善戒寺 Juzenkai-Ji.
Juzenkai refers to the 10 good precepts of Buddhism.
