The main statue is 弘法大師 Kobo Daishi.

. Kobo Daishi Kukai 弘法大師　空海 (774 - 835) .

The temple was founded in 1839 by the believers in Kobo Daishi.
They received a statue from 高野山金剛峯寺 Temple Kongobu-Ji at Mount Koyasan.
People come here to pray for the well-being of the family, protection from fire and disasters,
a good harvend and luck in business.
The bronze statue of Kobo Daishi on top of the hill is the largest in Japan.
It is 17 meters high and weighs 11 tons.

Northern Miyazaki’s largest spring festival.
Over the course of three days, dances and performances are held next to the statue of Kobo Daishi
in addition to Buddhist rituals.
