Shibahara Fudo doo 芝原不動堂 Shibahara Fudo-Do, Fudo Hall - Shibahara

さいたま市緑区芝原2-1-6 / Saitama city, Midori ward, Shibahara

The main statue is 不動明王.

The date of the founding is not clear.
Not much is known about this Hall.
The small Hall is administred by 内田家 the Uchida family.

nara no ki 楢の木 a Nara oak tree
The Nara oak tree in the compound of the temple near 不動堂 the Fudo Hall made scary sounds in the evening.
An itinerant priest promised to make it quiet. He placed a paper strip on it with the inscription
神代よりあた（害）にもならぬ楢の木を、なる木などとは誰かいうらん
Since then the tree did not make sounds any more and soon withered.

Once upon a time, 一条頼重 Ichijo Yorishige made a wish and was told to go to 鞍馬の奥 the mountain temple of Kurama.
He went there, sat in the 不動堂 Fudo-Do Hall and practised Zazen.
Suddenly some Tengu appeared and tried to disturb him.
Finally the Head Priest came to chase them away and oh wonder - they flew of as a group of black birds.
