Konjiki Fudo 金色不動尊 "Golden Fudo"
秋嶠山 Shukyozan 地蔵院 Jizo-In 妙法寺 Myoho-Ji
茨城県桜川市本郷13 / Ibaraki, Sakuragawa, Hongo
The temple was founded around 800, when a priest from temple 大慈寺 Daiji-Ji built a cottage and placed a Kannon with 1000 arms there.
He called his retreat 晶屋精舎 Akiya Shoja.
Later priest 慈覚大師円仁 Jigaku Daish Ennin visited there and decided to renovate the retreat.
He placed a statue of 地蔵菩薩 Jizo Bosatsu, which he had carved himself.
The name was changed to 阿炬那摩山顕法憧園 Akiyamasan Kenhodo En.
Around 910, it was renamed 阿幾那摩山十輪院妙法寺 Jurin-In Myoho-Ji.
The buildings were lost to fire, but the statue of Jizo fled to the nearby swamp and was safe, now called
水縁地蔵尊 Suien Jizo Son.
Around 1090, 藤原範明 Fujiwara Noriaki made a vow to liberate 奥州 the Oshu region in Northern Japan. On the 16th day of the seventh month (lunar calendar) there was mando-e 満灯会 a ritual with lanterns on the top of the mountain to pray for safety.
Around 1460, the building was lost to fire again and in 1571 relocated to its present location in Hongo.
In 1649, Shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu bestowed the land to the temple.
The temple houses sokushin butsu 即身仏 the living mummy of 舜義上人 Saint Shungi Shonin. Many people come to venerte it.

The statue of Fudo Myo-O in the main hall is more than 60 cm high and very impressive.
On each side is one of the doji 童子 attendants of Fudo.
People come here to pray for hissho kaiun 必勝開運 certain victory and shogan joju 諸願成就 fullfillment of all wishes.
