The Kannon statue is 千手観世音菩薩 Senju Kannon Bosatsu with 1000 Arms.
The statue has four side-statues of the 四天王 Shitenno :
持国天 Jikoku Ten,、増長天 Zocho Ten、広目天 Komoku-Ten and 多聞天 Tamon Ten.

おん　ばざら　たらま　きりく / On Basara Tarama Kiriku

The temple was founded in 室町末期 the late Muromachi period (1450 - 1570) by 大法印祐真 High Priest Yuma.
During a fire in 1815, the main hall and the storage building burned down and all information was lost.
A Gorinto 五輪塔 five-storied stone pagode in the compound has the inscription date 弘治元年 (1555) 九月十八日.
The present-day main hall was built in 1903.
The 不動堂 Fudo Hall was built in the early Meiji Period.
The 鐘楼堂 Bell Tower was built in 1948.

The main statue is 薬師如来 Yakushi Nyorai,
carved by 聖徳太子 Shotoku Taishi (574 - 622).

- Chant of the temple
御名となふ人は　心のくもはれて るりのひかりを　みるぞうれしき

The temple was founded on request of 推古天皇 Empress Suiko Tenno (554 - 628).
In 1356, it was relocated to the capital 平安京 Heiankyo.
In 1785, the temple burned dwon.
During the New Year Season, many people come here to get shuin 朱印 a stamp.
This is maybe the origin of the expression Daifukucho 大福帳 "Lucky Account Book".

At the Kannon Hall of the Temple 大福寺 Daifuku-Ji on 高爪山 Mound Takatsume
there is a statue of Yakushi Nyorai
which had been found in 荒木の海 the sea near Araki.
Every year on the main ritual on the 18th day on June
there is a "dragon lantern" to be seen on the large Sugi tree in the compound.

The 上野市愛宕神社 Atago Shrine in Ueno City has been built by a minor Tengu.
In the compound was a temple called 大福寺 Daifuku-Ji.
Once a Tengu came to ask the priest about the ninjutsu 忍術 skills of stealth and secrecy practiced by the 忍者 Ninja.

Konuka Yakushi 不来乎薬師 (こぬかやくし) / 来ぬか薬師 - "Why Do you not come, Yakushi San?"

京都市中京区釜座通二条上ル大黒町694 / Kyoto city, Nakagyo ward, Kamaza street, Daikoku town

The main statue is 薬師如来 Yakushi Nyorai.
It was carved by 伝教大師最澄 Dengyo Daishi Saicho when he was 16 years old.
The method was
itto sanrai 一刀三礼 carving one part and praying three times
. Saicho, Dengyo Daishi 伝教大師最澄 .
The statue was given from 比叡山女人禁制 Mount Hieisan of the temple that was forbidden for women in Gifu.

In 1230 the Head Priest had a dream vision, where Yakushi told him:
「一切病苦の衆生、我が前に来たらば諸病悉く除くべきに、来也(こぬか)、来也。」

In 1688, the Zen prest 鉄面禅師 Tetsumen Zenshi restored the temple.
The statue of Yakushi Nyorai was given to 織田信長 Oda Nobunaga by 斎藤道三 Saito Dosan.
At the end of the Edo period the 蛤御門 Hamaguri Gomon Gate was lost to fire.
In 1888 the priest 竺丈禅師 Jikujo Zenshi revived the temple with the help of the
近衛家 Konoe Family and the 三井家 Mitsui family.
At that time during the digging for a well a statue of Daikoku was found
and the village nearby was now called 大黒町 Daikoku town.
In 2012, the temple was added to the
京都十二薬師霊場めぐり Pilgrimage to 12 Yakushi Temples in Kyoto.

とうとしな　ふたつのはやし ふかければ るりのひかりに　なやみはるらん

The Temple was founded by 伝教大師 Dengyo Daishi in 805.
The region was under the control of 連定鑑（むらじさだみ）Muraji Sadami.
Many members of the Imperial Family resided in this temple.
Many literati, like 平康頼 Taira no Yasuyori, 西行法師 Priest Saigyo Hoshi and 頓阿法師 Priest Ton'a came here.
In the compound were 17 temple buildings, but most of them lost over time.
Now there is 花月庵 Kagetsu-An, also called Saigyo-Doo 西行堂 Hall for Saigyo.

どのような旱魃でも水が絶えない蛇頭水
夜な夜な小僧になって寺内を徘徊し人を驚かせた高欄にある木像。
赤門から抜き出て飛翔したという彫刻の鶴。
底無しの井戸。繋ぎ榧。逆さ桜。

Komochi Robai no Sato (子 持 老 梅 の 里 )
Komochi Robai no Sato garden stretches on an entire mountain side, owned by Shorinji (the Temple of the Seven Wonders).
Known as Robai "Wax Plum" in Japan, the Winter sweet, or Japanese Allspice tree bloom during the coldest time of the year, with beautiful flowers that have vibrant yellow, waxy petals and delicate fragrance.

Seeing this tree flowering in January makes you feel that winter won't last.
The best time to see these beautiful flowers is Mid-January to mid-Februar

The statue is usually not shown, only on the first and 16th of each month
from 5 in the morning till 5 in the afternoon.
The statue was made by 利修仙人 Saint Rishu.

Fukushoji is a small temple on the Rakuyo Pilgrimage in Kyoto.

Once upon a time, the 観音様 Deity Kannon Sama from the Temple 福勝寺 Fukusho-Ji
became angry about a Tengu.
The Tengu kneeled on the floor, placing both hands before him, and apologized.
Since then, the tegata 手形 hand prints of the Tengu are on the floor.

The main statue is 不動明王 Fudo Myo-O.
The Kannon Statue is 十一面観世音菩薩 Juichimen Kannon.

なうまく　さんまんだ　ばざらだん　せんだん　まかろしゃだ　
そわたや　うんたらた　かんまん

The temple was founded in 1190 by 道観長者 Priest Dokan.
Every year on the 12th day of the third month, the ritual of o-mizu tori お水取り "fetching water"
takes place. The huge taimatsu 松明 torches come from Ichinoi and are carried to
奈良二月堂 the Nigatsu-Do Hall in Nara for the fire ritual.

The present main hall was built in 1888.
The temple has many old books.

In the compound are many old trees, one is sanko no matsu 三鈷の松, a trident pine
with special leaves like
a kongosho 金剛杵 vajra pestle.

Kannon Temples in Mie, Nabari city and Iga city
They are mentioned first in a guide book from 1975.
Some temples do not have a Kannon Statue any more.

All the temples are located in Mie prefecture.

The Thirteen Buddhas (十三仏, Jūsanbutsu) is a Japanese grouping of Buddhist deities,
particularly in the Shingon and Tendai sects of Buddhism.
The deities are, in fact, not only Buddhas, but include bodhisattvas and Wisdom Kings.
In Shingon services, lay followers recite a devotional mantra to each figure, though in Shingon practice,
disciples will typically devote themselves to only one, depending on what the teacher assigns.
Thus the chanting of the mantras of the Thirteen Buddhas are merely the basic practice of laypeople.

Funeral rituals
The Thirteen Buddhas are also an important part of a traditional Japanese Buddhist funeral service,
with each deity having a corresponding memorial service for the deceased.
The thirteen in Japanese and Sanskrit and the corresponding date of their service after the death are:

The main statue is 日限薬師 Higiri Yakushi. -耳の仏様 the Budda for Ears
This Yakushi is known for healing ear diseases.
The temple was founded in the Heian Period around 826 on request of 嵯峨天皇 the Emperor Saga Tenno
in the 右京区 Ukyo ward at the area called 太秦安井 Uzumasa Yasui.
In 1727, 道空和上 Priest Doku prayed for the health of 関白鷹司 Kanpaku Takatsukasa.
The temple was then relocated from Uzumasa to its present location
and Yakushi Nyorai became the main Deity.
In 2012, it became one of the 12 Yakushi Temples of Kyoto.

The Statue of Jizo Bosatsu had originally fallen into the water near the hamlet Maine.
Every night there was a strange light coming from the sea.
When the fisherman looked for it and found a statue.
It was placed in a small hut.
But every evening, when the fisher women and children were on their way home,
it touched their bodies.
