The main statue is 不動明王 Fudo Myo-O.
It was the nenjibutsu 念持仏 statue for personal worship by 源頼義 Minamoto no Yoriyoshi (988 - 1075).

なうまくさんまんだ　ばざらだんせんだん　まかろしやだ　そわたや　うんたらたかんまん

The temple was founded in 738 by 行基菩薩 Gyoki Bosatsu
on request of 聖武天皇 Emperor Shomu (701 - 756).
. 行基菩薩 Gyoki Bosatsu (668 - 749) .
It was first named 大福院 Daifuku-In.
The head priest was 定海 Jokai.
At one time there wer 17 sub-temples in the compound.
In 1568 the main hall was lost to fire, but the head priest could save the statue.
In 1690 海養 Kaiyo became head priest.
In 1746, in came under the protection of the Lord of 神戸城 Kobe castle, 本多忠統 Honda Tadamune (1691 - 1757).
After the Meiji Restauration it fell into decline, but was later revived.

The main statue is 不動明王 Fudo Myo-O.
The Fudo Hall :

The temple was founded in 1282.
In the compound is 薬師堂 a Hall for Yakushi Nyorai,
which later became the hall for Fudo Myo-O.
In the compound is 天王社 Tenno Shrine.
Around 1654, it was renovated by 富山 信賢法印 Priest Toyama Shinken.
and a stone memorial with the inscription 大行院 was erected.
The Toyama family took care of the temple.
In the Edo period, it became a training place for 修験道本山派 Shugendo priests.
In 1745, Priest 隣章法印 rebuilt 薬師堂 the Hall for Yakushi Nyorai.
In 1758, the statue of Fudo Myo-O was placed in the Yakushi Hall.
In 1855, the Yakushi Hall burned down, but was soon rebuilt by 法印賢海 Priest Kenkai.
A statue of 牛頭天王 Gozu Tenno was also placed in the Yakushi Hall.
During the Meiji restauration, the Shrine was relocated to 高木村 Takagi village.

The main statue is 薬師如来 Yakushi Nyorai.

おん　ころころ　せんだり　まとうぎ　そわか

In 1897, a man from Kyoto named 立葉隆道 Tachiba Takamichi passed here on a pilgrimage
and built a small hall where Kobo Daishi was venerated.
In WW1 the temple was burned down, but the main statue was safe.
In 1950 it was build again to host a statue of Kobo Daishi from 名古屋松林寺 Temple Shorinji in Nagoya.
In 1987 薬師如来 Yakushi Nyorai became the main statue.
At his side are 日光、月光両菩薩 Nikko Bosatsu and Gekko Bosatsu.
Other statues are 阿弥陀如来、聖観音、地蔵菩薩、毘沙門天王、不動明王、十二神将、愛染明王.
In the compound is 滝不動 a waterfall with Fudo Myo-O.

The Fudo Myo-O statue is located in the 護摩堂 Goma Do Hall.
The main statue is 虚空蔵菩薩 Kokuzo Bosatsu.
The Kokuzo Statue was made by 運慶 Unkei.

The date of the founding is not clear.
It was maby founded by 慈覚大師 Jikaku Daishi.
It is a sub-temple of 中尾村吉祥寺 Temple Kichijo-ji in Nakao village.
Around 1644, the temple burned down and all records were lost.
Jisei-In was later abolished.
Around 1810 亮応師 Priest Ryo-O re-bulit the main hall.

In the compound of 三頭山長福寺 the Temple Chofuku-Ji at the food of 宮地山 Mount Miyaji
there is a stone of about 1,2 m high, lookig like a woman.
Once upon a time, a prostitute in love with a man she could not get
killed hersself here and became a stone.

. ike no nushi 池の主 と伝説 the Master of the Pond .
A woman named O-Towa working at 長福寺 the Temple Chofuku-Ji
went to the mountain forest to collect fuki 蕗 butterbur.
Her loincloth became dirty and when she washed it at the pond, the "Master of the Pond" appeared and said :
"Women who wash their loincloth in my pond have to become my wife with in 3 days.
In her fear Otowa stayed in bed. The Master of the Pond came to claim her and said
if she would not appear, there would be great rain and water damage in the village.
So she followed him into the pond to become his wife.
A few days later, there appeared a small floating island in the lake to show that Otowa now lived there.
The pond was now called Otowa-Ike おとわ池 Otowa Pond.
On the 23rd day of June the villagers come here to hold a special ritual for her soul.

. kane 鐘と伝説 Legends about the temple bell .
At 長福寺 the Temple Chofuku-Ji there once came a Yamabushi and asked for money on his journey.
The priest told him there was no money, there was only kane 鐘, a temple bell.
"If this KANE (a synonym with money) helps you, take it with you!"
The Yamabushi picked up the heavy bell with no problem and left.
He hang the bell at 大峯釈迦嶽の松 the pine tree at Mount Omine Shakadake.

The main statue is 大日如来 Dainichi Nyorai.

なむ　だいじ　へんじょう　こんごう

The temple was founded around 1840 by pious people living in Naya.
People come here to pray for safety at sea and safety at home.
A new hall was built in 1902 and
清水雄明和尚 Priest Kiyomizu Akira took over as head priest.
During WW2 the temple burned down, but the main statue was saved.
In 1954 a new hall was built.
It contained the statues of 大日如来 Dainichi Nyorai, 薬師如来 Yakushi Nyorai and other deities.
The temple was then called 北納屋のおだいしさん Kita-Naya no O-Daishi san.
Many people come to the annual festivals.

In the compound is a standing statue of 地蔵菩薩 Jizo Bosatsu
and inshoozuka 印章塚 a "seal mound".

The main statue is 毘沙門天王 Bishamon Ten.

- Chant of the temple
おん　べいしら　まんだや　そわか

The temple was founded in 736 by 行基菩薩 Gyoki Bosatsu
on request of 聖武天皇 Emperor Shomu Tenno (in duty 724～49).
Gyoki named the temple 長松山 Nagamatsuzan、永代寺 Eitai-Ji, but it was later lost to fire.
Around 1300 (in the Kamakura period) it was revitalized by
Priest 虎関国師, who placed a stone statue of 石仏の毘沙門天王 Bishamonten in the compound.
During the Meiji restauration, priest 定峯和尚 from the temple 伊勢国 密厳寺 Mitsugon-Ji in Ise took care of the statue.
In 1958, the temple was revitalized as 大和信貴山 Yamato Shigisan and named
千福寺 Senpuku-Ji.
In 1977 the main hall was built and called the statue called いくわの毘沙門さん Ikuwa no Bishamon San.

THe present wooden statue of Bishamon Ten is 81 cm and
was made from cypress wood in the Kamakura period (1189 - 1333).

The main statue is 不動明王 Fudo Myo-O.
The seated statue is never shown to the public, is is completely secret.
It is kept in a special shrine of about 2 meters.
Instead of Fudo, a statue of Dainichi Nyorai is shown, called
Kachu Shutsugen no Dainichi Nyorai 火中出現の大日如来 Nyorai coming out of the fire.

The date of the founding is not clear.
The temple burned down and the date of the present buildings is not clear.
But the main hall is now a new building.

The main statue is 弘法大師 Kobo Daishi.

なむ　だいし　へんじょう　こんごう

The temple was founded in the early Edo period.
The warriour . 坂上田村麻呂 Sakanoue no Tamuramaro (758 - 811) .
was a general and shogun of the early Heian Period of Japan.
He passed here on his task of conquering the Emishi (蝦夷征伐 Emishi Seibatsu),
a people native to the north of Honshū, which he subjugated
and drove from the Tohoku region of Honshu to the island of Hokkaido.
This temple in his honor remained till the Edo period.
Around 1892, the priest 大慈遍照 Daiji Henjo of the second generation kept the temple.
Priest 真養大和尚 Shinyo Daiosho renovated the temple and gave it its present name.
Until our day many people in the village have the name of 田村 Tamura.
In the temple is a statue of 弘法大師 Kobo Daishi
and one of 不動明王 Fudo Myo-O.
In the compound is 地蔵堂 a Hall for Jizo Bosatsu.
During the rituals on the winder solstice, a special かぼちゃぜんざい Pumpkun soup is eaten,
leading to the name 「かぼちゃ大師」Pumpkin Daishi.

The date of the founding is not clear.
In the Edo period, there were two temples in Bunzo -
歓養院 Kanki-In and 圓乗院 / 円乗院 Enjo-In.
At the Temple Kanki-In there was 不動堂 a Hall for Fudo Myo-O and 地蔵堂 a Hall for Jizo Bosatsu.
At the Temple Enjo-In there was Yakushi-Do 薬師堂 a Hall for Yakushi Nyorai.
Beside the Statue of Yakushi there is a statue of a seated Fudo Myo-O 不動尊座像, about 30 cm high.
On the left side is 地蔵尊 a Statue of Jizo Bosatsu.

In the compound is a group of 6 Jizo statues 文蔵薬師堂六地蔵尊.
