This deity brings peace to the family.
The Kannon statue is 子授け・子育て観音 Kannon to bring and protect children
At the gate is also a statue of sakedachi Jizo 酒断ち地蔵 / 酒断地蔵 to help stop drinking alcohol.

An ancient temple of the Rinzai sect.
This Zen Temple was founded in 1322 by 弧峰覚明 Koho Kakumyo (三光国師 Sanko Kokushi)
and is one of the oldest Zen temples in the Izumo region.
This is where Emperor Go-Daigo offered his prayers.
It has a number of cultural properties, such as a four-pillared gate with a gabled roof (Shikyakumon)
and 高麗梵鐘 a Korean copper bell, and there is a dry landscape garden of about 33,000 square meters behind the prients’ chambers.
The quiet surroundings may make this place appear a rigid Zen temple,
but the azaleas that bloom in May are a sight to behold.

A Rinzai Zen Buddhist temple that is counted among of the oldest Zen temples in the Izumo region.
It was founded in 1322 by the priest Koho Kakumyo who had earned the trust of Emperor Godaigo and Emperor Gomurakami.
The precious large shikyakumon four-pillared gate at the end of the pine tree lined approach dates from the 1300s and escaped fires, helping it survive to the present day.
The precincts are also home to one of the prefecture's few Korean bells.
The temple is also a popular spot for viewing azaleas; the site of hundreds of them blooming together is superb.

Named after priest 釈雲照 Shaku Unsho (1827 - 1909).

The temple was moved here in the Meiji period by the famous priest 釈雲照 Shaku Unsho (1827 - 1909).
Unsho came to 松江千手院 a Kannon temple in Matsue in 1836.
In 1844 he went to 高野山 Mount Koyasan to study 真言密教 Shingon Mikkyo Buddhism.
Later he lived at the temple 新長谷寺 Shin-Hasedera in Mejiro.
He died in 1909 of influenza.

The temple is surrounded by plum trees.
It was founded in 1202 by 佐野安房守実綱 Sano Sanetsuna, Lord of 唐沢城主 Karasawa castle.
Sanetsuna was a retainer of 源頼朝 Minamoto no Yoritomo. He built this temple in honor of Yoritomo.

... ある日、実綱は唐沢山城から小曽戸板を通り不摩城へ向う途中、寺尾郷が一望できる頂で馬をとめ眼下を眺めていた。 その時実綱は、過ぎし日鎌倉八幡宮で行われた流鏑馬(やぶさめ)に参加しその技量を讃えられ、政子夫人より紅梅一枝をおくられたことを思いおこし、 「先の将軍の冥福を祈るための寺は、この山に建てよう」と決意。
その夜、不摩城に入った実綱は、城主木村氏に梅沢の地に寺を建立するよう命令。
木村氏は、梅沢村三竹に宗綱の名で寺を建立し、梅南に隣接している地なので紅白の梅を境内に植えた。
その後三百年を経て、
一時廃塔されたが、大永三年(1523)に郷内戸矢子の不摩城主木村伊豆守により塔頭が再建された。
天正年間には、法印周応和上が醍醐より法流を相承して中興第一世となる。この時、門末十ヶ寺の中本寺となった。
第二世弘典法師は、
日光大沢で徳川二代将軍秀忠の帰依(きえ)を得て、石高十石の朱印地をもらい受けた。この時の書状箱は、華蔵寺に現存している。
しかし文政十一年(1828)、山火事により廃虚と化す。幾度かの復興を試みたが成功せず、明治維新を迎えた頃、遂に末寺常徳、持宝の二ヶ寺を残して末門はことごとく廃寺となった。
明治37年、
金剛照浄和上が第三十五世となり、常徳、持宝の二ヶ寺を合併し興隆を画す。昭和9年には、本堂と庫裏を再建した。 まさに華蔵寺の歴史は波乱に満ちている。
そうした時の流れを大らかなこころで包んだかのような、ここ華蔵寺の境内は静寂のみが音を立てる。
現実を離れ、遠い昔に旅をしている気分さえ味わえる、風格のある寺だ。

Karasawa Castle (唐沢城, Karasawa-jō) or
Karasawayama Castle (唐沢山城, Karasawayama-jō)
was originally built in 927 by Fujiwara no Hidesato, and Renovated in 1491 by Sano Moritsuna, of the Sano clan. It was a mountain-top castle, and one of the main castles of the Kanto area, Honshu, Japan. It is sited on the border of Kanto plain and northern mountain areas. and sat next to Sano, the corresponding castle town during the Edo period.
Over a period of time,
the Sano clan expanded their control over the area, and gradually built up the castle. At its peak, it was a substantial castle, commanding a mountaintop position. During the 16th century, the powerful Warlord, Kenshin Uesugi (1530–1578), lord of Kasugayama Castle moved into the area, and took over landholdings of some of the smaller clans. However, in so doing, he had to travel quite far, and was also being attacked by the Hojo clan. The castle saw most conflict in this period. Under the leadership of Sano Masatsuna (1529–1574), the castle withstood attacks by Kenshin Uesugi. At one point, Masatsuna allied with Kenshin, but eventually he broke free, regaining independence for the castle and for the Sano clan. The Uesugi clan attacked the castle 10 times during the Sengoku Period - a large amount of castle attacks, in a short time period.
Toyotomi Hideyoshi
conducted a campaign against the Hojo clan, and the Sano supported Hideyoshi. At the time, the Sano were on good terms with the Hojo, but Hideyoshi removed them from the castle. At the battle of Sekigahara the Sano clan sided with Tokugawa.
The story goes
that after one of the early Fires in Edo, the Sano clan could see the fire down in the city from their mountaintop. The clan sent their condolences to Edo for the unfortunate event. Allegedly, the Emperor was unimpressed that the Sano clan castle look down on Edo, and told them they would have to remove it. Whatever the reason, the clan rebuilt their castle lower down the hill, in a nearby but different position,
and this new castle was named Sano Castle.

In Shizuoka, 駿河国宇度郡 Suruga, Udo District, near 三保の松原 Miho no Matsubara.
Not much is known about this heavenly maiden. She appeared at the beach of Udohama and became the wife of a fisherman.

Miho no Matsubara is known as the site of the legend of Hagoromo 羽衣 "the Feathered Robe",
which is based on the traditional swan maiden motif.
The story of Hagoromo concerns a celestial being flying over Miho no Matsubara who was overcome by the beauty of the white sands, green pines, and sparkling water. She removed her feathered robe and hung it over a pine tree before bathing in the beautiful waters.
A fisherman named Hakuryo was walking along the beach and saw the angel. He took her robe and refused to return it until she performed a heavenly dance for him. As the angel could not return to heaven without her robe, she complied with Hakuryo's request. She danced in the spring twilight and returned to heaven in the light of the full moon leaving Hakuryo looking longingly after her.

Once Tenmu Tenno played the 琴 Koto near a waterfall in Yoshino. On the cliff opposite the river something strange like a colorful cloud appeared. Looking closer it had the form of 天女 two heavenly maiden, clad in traditional layered robes, performing a ritual dance.
This is the beginning of the ritual gosetchi no maihime 五節の舞姫 Gosechi no Mai .
This imperial dance is performed to our day, even in Kabuki.

UBAZAKURA
Three hundred years ago, in the village called Asamimura, in the district called Onsengori, in the province of Iyô, there lived a good man named Tokubei. This Tokubei was the richest person in the district, and the muraosa, or headman, of the village. In most matters he was fortunate; but he reached the age of forty without knowing the happiness of becoming a father. Therefore he and his wife, in the affliction of their childlessness, addressed many prayers to the divinity Fudô Myô Ô, who had a famous temple, called Saihôji, in Asamimura.
At last their prayers were heard: the wife of Tokubei gave birth to a daughter. The child was very pretty; and she received the name of Tsuyu 露. As the mother's milk was deficient, a milk-nurse, called O-Sodé お袖, was hired for the little one.
O-Tsuyu grew up to be a very beautiful girl; but at the age of fifteen she fell sick, and the doctors thought that she was going to die. In that time the nurse O-Sodé , who loved O-Tsuyu with a real mother's love, went to the temple Saihôji, and fervently prayed to Fudô-Sama on behalf of the girl. Every day, for twenty-one days, she went to the temple and prayed; and at the end of that time, O-Tsuyu suddenly and completely recovered.
Then there was great rejoicing in the house of Tokubei; and he gave a feast to all his friends in celebration of the happy event. But on the night of the feast the nurse O-Sodé was suddenly taken ill; and on the following morning, the doctor, who had been summoned to attend her, announced that she was dying.
Then the family, in great sorrow, gathered about her bed, to bid her farewell. But she said to them:
"It is time that I should tell you something which you do not know. My prayer has been heard.
I besought Fudô-Sama that I might be permitted to die in the place of O-Tsuyu;
and this great favor has been granted me. Therefore you must not grieve about my death.... But I have one request to make. I promised Fudô-Sama that I would have a cherry-tree planted in the garden of Saihôji, for a thank-offering and a commemoration. Now I shall not be able myself to plant the tree there: so I must beg that you will fulfill that vow for me .... Good-bye, dear friends; and remember that I was happy to die for O-Tsuyu's sake."

After the funeral of O-Sodé, a young cherry-tree,-- the finest that could be found,-- was planted in the garden of Saihôji by the parents of O-Tsuyu. The tree grew and flourished; and on the sixteenth day of the second month of the following year,-- the anniversary of O-Sodé's death,-- it blossomed in a wonderful way.
So it continued to blossom for two hundred and fifty-four years,--always upon the sixteenth day of the second month;--and its flowers, pink and white, were like the nipples of a woman's breasts, bedewed with milk.
And the people called it Ubazakura, the Cherry-tree of the Milk-Nurse.

This Japanese version tells of a prayer to Yakushi Nyorai 薬師如来 Buddha of Medicine, at the temple Taiho-Ji in Matsuyama.
角木長者伝説とも呼ばれる。
その昔、この地に角木長者と呼ばれる豪族がいた。彼は子宝に恵まれなかった。薬師如来に祈りを捧げたところ娘が生まれた。娘の名を「露」と名付けた。露には「お袖」という名の乳母を雇い大切に育てた。お袖の乳の出が悪くなり、再び薬師如来に祈ると乳が出るようになった。そこで、お礼にお堂を建立した。これが大宝寺の始まりという。
露は15歳になった時に重病にかかった。お袖は自分の命と引き替えに露を助けて欲しいと薬師如来に祈った。すると露の病気は平癒した。その祝いの席でお袖は病に倒れた。お薬師様との約束と言って、お袖は薬も飲まず治療を拒み、とうとう亡くなった。亡くなる直前に「お薬師様へのお礼に桜の木を植えて下さい。」と言い残した。長者は約束どおりお堂の前に桜の木を植えた。その桜は枝が伸びないうちから幹に2~3輪の花が咲いた。その花はお袖の乳房のような形で、母乳のような色であったという。その後、母乳の出が悪い女性が参拝に訪れるようになった。

Kōbō Daishi enshrined a Buddhist relic here in 790 and then returned at a later date, founded the temple, and carved the honzon. The temple was dedicated by Emperor Kameyama when he came here and planted a ginko tree which bears a Sanskrit inscription and which has since enshrined the hair from his head.
In the late 16th century, Chōsokabe Motochika climbed to the temple and was inspired enough by the grandeur that he decided to try and conquer and control the three provinces of Awa, Iyo, and Sanuki. The temple priest tried to talk him out of it and, even though Chōsokabe refused to take his advice, his forthrightness and willingness to speak may have been the reason that the temple complex wasn't burned down like so many others on the island. At one time the temple had seven shrines, twelve affiliated halls, and eight branch temples.
This temple is at the highest elevation of all pilgrimage temples (3060 ft; 911 m) but there is a ropeway to the top for those that need it. The mountain sits on the corner of three provinces, and as strange as it seems, this first temple listed as being in Kagawa Prefecture is actually in Tokushima Prefecture.
There are also other statues of Kannon and Fudō, which are both National Treasures.

鵜殿石仏群 The Udono Sekibutsu
are images of Buddha that were carved into the stone walls of a cave located in Karatsu City Saga Pref. According to the ancient record of Byodoji Temple, which used to be located inside the cave, Kobo Daishi Kukai visited this place on his way from China back to Kyoto in 806. Deeply impressed by the holy atmosphere of this place, Kukai carved the three images of Amida, Shaka Norai (Gautama Buddha), and Kannon in the central part of the wall.
The images Kukai carved do not remain now; however, there are about 60 images of Buddha such as the Eleven Headed Kannon, Tamonten, and Jikokuten. These three images are considered to have been made in around the Nanbokucho period (1336-1392), and others up to the Edo period. Each image of Buddha shows powerful expression on its face, which reminds us of the flourishing Buddhism culture at the time.

鵜殿(うどの)の石仏群は、唐津市相知(おうち)町鵜殿窟(うどのいわや)と称される断層岩壁に彫刻された磨崖仏(まがいぶつ)群。もともとは大きな洞窟であり、かつてはその中に平等寺が建立されていたそうです。お寺は焼失し、今では石壁だけとなりました。文禄3(1594)年に著された「鵜殿山平等院略縁起」によると、この石仏は空海(くうかい)が「漢土の霊窟にも劣るまじき法地なり」と彫刻したことがはじまりとされています。
唐からの帰途ここに立ち寄り、弥陀(みだ)、釈迦(しゃか)、観音の3体を彫ったとのことです。残念ながらこの3体は現存せず、その真偽はわかりませんが、ここが真言密教の信仰の場であったこは間違いないようです。最古の石仏は石仏群の中心となる十一面観音とその両脇の多聞天(たもんてん)と持国天(じこくてん)。その作風から南北朝時代のものと推定されています。その他、大日如来、不動明王など、総数は58体。南北朝時代から江戸時代にかけてのもの。勇壮な石仏群は当時の、松浦武将の心のよりどころ、文化の華だったとも言われています。また、ギリシャやインド地方の影響があるともいわれています。
