赤紙仁王像 Akagami Nio of red paper - at the Fudo Hall 「不動堂」
The statues were erected in the hope and with prayers to stop an epidemy in Edo. Nowadays people still plaster a red paper on the spot where they ace and pray for healing.
If they are healed, they come back and offer some straw sandals.
This temple was founded in 1491 by Priest 源雅和尚.
The main statue is 不動明王 Fudo Myo-O, carved by Kobo Daishi.
Near the Shrine is 田端八幡神社 Tabata Hachimangu.
The temple was first located near 神田橋 Kandabashi and moved to its present location around 1600.

This temple was founded in 1591 by 中興照海上人 Saint Shokai.
The main statue is 薬師如来 Yakushi Nyorai- 愛宕下のお薬師さん Atago-Shita no O-Yakushi San..
The temple was moved to its present location in 1605 on request of 徳川家康 Tokugawa Ieyasu.
It is now located in a modern highrise building 真福寺 - 愛宕東洋ビル and people still come here to pray for fire and disaster prevention.
